Continuing my theme of Bikes against Telescopes
So many rules broken!
Discovered mountain biking this summer and I'm totally obsessed. Who knew riding on trails up and down mountains would be so much more fun than riding on the highway?
Weird that it's the only bike in their line with the block letter logo on the down tube instead of the traditional cursive.
They did do the cursive on the Tundra & Jungle version... but those two come with an upcharge of 1500 Euros!
Talk about pretty bikes @Martin ... those 2

Not mine, but had a chuckle when I saw the ad:

I picked this one up yesterday. Needs a clean and a tune. Any recommendations on bar tape?

@Tad_M as always I take most "advice" with a grain of salt
OK, it's taken a minute but this morning I finally got out for a first ride. BAAB.
I know I’m breaking almost all of the BAAW scoring rules but fresh from a bath, these 2 are beautiful.
Before the photo loaded (I'm on airport wifi) I thought this was going to be a follow up on the Race Mishap thread post
Finally got around to building this guy up. 1976 Z50A with a 1000W electric motor conversion. The big kid loves it (spoiler, I do too).
@KHilgendorf that’s awesome!
I had a little Honda 50cc as a kid and it was one of the best investments in my life. Bought it for $160 in 1992, beat the shit out of it for 3 summers, and the sold it for $350. Those things are tough as nails.
@James Lange i rode it in ICE form as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. And loved the hell out of it. Now that my oldest son is big enough to ride, I wanted to give him that same enjoyment. But my dad and I couldn’t get the engine to fire up - so rather than buy some Chinese special drop in off Amazon for $250, I funneled that into an electric drivetrain. I saved everything and made no mods to the bike itself (just some custom fab for the motor mounts and such, so I can always convert it back. These things in good form are 3-5k now.
Most importantly, the thing can wheelie now. And will run about 18-20 mph. Not too fast to do anything stupid, but quick enough to be fun.
I can't find a photo of this bike in the thread for some reason, so here's it's farewell shot since I just sold it. My heart broke a little, but the purchaser seemed like a mega-CAAD nerd intent on actually upgrading it rather than using it to crash in criteriums like most CAAD owners, so it's gone to a good home.
I upgraded the shit out of my AL Cinelli and then crashed the shit out of it in crits. They’re not mutually exclusive. But honestly, new wheels and dropping the stem and that thing is ready to rip anything.
