0 to hero in 10 weeks/Oh shit my Ironman is only 71 days away
Comments
So we now reset to 236 days till my next event!
Guess this thread can now go silent for 156 days, till I decide to take IM Mallorca (70.3) seriously!
Oh and I re-entered IM Wales, I mean what's the worst that happens?
I'm slower than my current club record for slowest Ironman!
Shooting for the slowest time here too? 16:59 takes it!
Sometimes it's really nice not to succeed!
Now treating this thread like Fess Hole,
This time I won't be doing my next event IM 70.3 Alcúdia - Mallorca!
Because I fell off my bike! Bone chips on my elbow now mean I can't stear a bike without shooting pain up my wrist and elbow
Also I only realised 4 weeks ago my passport has expired! Shame 52% of my fellow UK residents decided to end my rite to Free Movement in Europe!
98% of triathletes can't steer a bike when they are healthy.
And there are lots of smugglers that could get you to Majorca and back on 'lower' passport controlled routes.
I feel like you are really grasping for excuses here.
My passport did in fact turn up in time for me to travel!
My neighbour knocking on to ask if I was OK suggests the shouting pain in my arm may have resulted in a rather vocal reaction!
So we are now 107 days out from IM Wales, the arm is still not right and I currently can't run a gentle Z2 run, high end of Z3 is as good as it gets!
Training is on track by my standards.
Compared to last year, I think you're ahead of schedule.
In a very Struan way just realised that having applied to move my Mallorca 70.3 registration to Weymouth, I hadn't actually registered!
Good job I had that thought as I only had another 3 hrs to register!
So that's full distance Wales in 99 days and then Weymouth half 2 weeks later.
So with 68 days remaining I went for a run this morning and an evening ride.
Therun was terrible, the bike tolerable, rumour has it if I keep this up it gets easier!
We are now 49 days off IM Wales.
This week I've done
Run X 2
Cycle X 3 (to and from work are seperate rides)
Swim X 0
Sounds like you've doubled your training since last year. Good work.
In other news I attended my Tri Club summer social, and that seems to have resulted in an email!

Are you all sitting down?
I actually completed one of my events!
I'd just like to say, on behalf of all of us here who thought you'd never finish this event, or any event for that matter. Congratulations.
@Struang , you're ready for the Ode to Laz. I'll take the suspense out of it. You'll DNF.
(but you'll have one hell of a fun time)

I've never DNF'd a race. Plenty of DNS but as yet I've never not finished what I start!
As long as we exclude all the training properly for an event, I've started that numerous times and never finished training!
We will be happy to be your first!!!!

Genuine question has anybody gone from Struan esque training approach (very litlle) to taking it seriously and actually doing a respectable time?
Wondering if other people have found, personal goals, peer pressure, risk of embarrassment (ie telling all you're friend you'll be sub X hrs) most effective
I'd really like to ace a race next year, and get a result to be proper proud of.
Not expecting to set a new age group record, but would certainly like to shave hours off previous times.
I guess the alternative is I bet you all I can do sub 12 hrs. Safe in the knowledge that if suddenly that's a bet against more than a dozen people @Aaron Webstey will cover the bet due to the increased traffic!
The annual scary email arrived, gotten away with it again!
Close one. That would have been a lot of training you wouldn't be doing.
