  • April "challenge"

I'm still battling my injury, which has now been diagnosed as a slipped disc in my lower back that is pinching my sciatic nerve. I owe my physiotherapist an apology since I threw him under the bus when I thought it was a hamstring/knee injury. Hopefully I can get an MRI quickly and they can figure out if I need surgery or not. In the mean time I'm off work on short-term disability and not able to sit, stand, or lie down flat. My sweet spot is lying on the living room floor with my legs up on the couch or ottoman. I'm also taking a metric shit ton of painkillers, so it's not all bad.

For April I'm going to go with the same goal as Webstey and try to get under 200lbs.

  • March Challenge

My totals for March are officially zero as my last run (the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back) was a 10 miler on Feb 28.

My last 5 days have been pure hell with my pain getting worse and worse until it was almost unmanageable and I am essentially bed ridden. Today I saw my family doc though and she hooked me up with some strong drugs and she sent me for a spine x-ray as the likely culprit is a slipped disc (if so, my apologies to my physiotherapist who I threw under the bus). My goal now has shift from running Ode to Laz to being able sit in an airplane for the flight to Michigan.

  • March Challenge

@Matt That's crazy fast dude. Well done.

It's been a tough month for me. Back strain on the 1st, missed a week of work, started physio and was almost fully recovered.... until last week when my physiotherapist partially detached my hamstring muscle from my knee. Now I can barely walk. FML.

  • March Challenge

7 days later and I'm making some progress on getting over my back strain. Last week I broke down and went to the doctor and she prescribed me a bunch of drugs, including Valium, which was pretty sweet till it ran out. I start physio tomorrow. Things have improved but if I drop something on the floor it might as well be on the dark site of the moon. I can't sit or stand or lie flat, so I've been living my life reclined at about 60 degrees. Starting to look like the people from Wall-E.

  • March Challenge

My March challenge is just to get healthy. A week ago I did something to my back (no big event/trauma) and now I can barely walk and even sitting hurts. I needed my daughter's help to put on socks this morning.

@kjrunnin How is your calf doing? I finally got my right calf feeling good, got running again after 6 days off, then my wife decided that the heaviest piece of furniture in the world needed to be in our basement. Tweaked my left calf doing that. It feels ok now but I'm waiting for it to warm up before I run again. Worried about running at -30C when I'm already struggling with light muscles.

  • Bold Kona Predictions

Lucy Charles has the fastest overall swim at 47:47.

Lionel bikes faster than Wurf (but doesn't catch him) and runs a 4:22 marathon.

Ryf has the best female bike split by over 20 minutes.

    Brownlee 2nd, Beals 3rd.

Haug is the only woman to run sub-3hrs.

Lange gets a drafting penalty, runs a 2:39 marathon, finishes 4th, and calls off his engagement at the finish line.

Wurf wins and @bbculp is super humble about his early prediction.

  • Move over Mr. Culp, whoever wrote this article is my new favorite triathlon journalist

I should have taken a screenshot because they updated it this morning. Originally it was about "11-time Ironman World Champion Lauren Gross". Thankfully they've kept this gem in: "Ironman is an ultra triathlon, consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride and a 21.1km run."

After training for IMC for the last 30 weeks I am positive that signing up for next year's race would be a divorcable offence. Maybe 2021...
