Living in Nashville, a bunch of our triathletes went to Chattanooga this past weekend to either race or spectate. One in particular got a picture with Miranda Carfrae and said "Kona World Champion" on his post on Facebook. Being the smart ass that I am, I just commented on that post "looks like the 3rd place female from Chattanooga" The locals did not take too kindly to that comment. Was I out of line for posting that comment, or are they being too sensitive?
Also, said local should have noted that she's a former world champion. Or perhaps that's your next post: Edited to add: also looks like a former world champion who DNF'd Kona this year.
But I'm a fellow asshole, so there's that.

3.) With all that spare cash following the Amer Sports acquisition, would you spend it on a.) hookers and blow, b.) creating a demo wheel fleet, c.) product development and design?

Ironman now owns 6 of the 9 ITU World Triathlon Series races
The EU is going to wind up diving into this.
The real question is whether the industry that is being considered for monopolization purposes would be triathlon generally or endurance sports. Considering that a bunch of hospitals in Indiana/Illinois were just blocked from merging together due to it being anticompetitive, I would suggest that the fine folks at Trade would wind up calling the market relatively small.
