The Courtyard isn't booking yet. Golden Arrow is $329/night with a 5 night minimum. Crowne will open up. And most of the Airbnb's won't start booking yet, either.

Staying outside of Placid saves you hundreds of dollars a night, may not have more than a 3 night minimum, and gets you away from the batshit insane folks in town. Only problem is trying to make it to the Brewery...still haven't been back since the Great Fire and Pope Joke of 2015.

@rigpig I think wearing the Clayton is probably the way to go. I like the Tracer a lot for open road racing and HIMs, and I might wear it for Placid, but I think it might lack cushioning for that application.

What Newtons are you in? That would probably guide your best options.

Also...offset is typically more of an output thing predicated off of personal preference and/or what you tend to wear on a daily basis for footwear. I do tend to like racing off the bike with a 10 mm offset (in part, I think, due to the degree of toe-point I utilize on the bike), but road racing go lower.

So, Excel 33 was a decent model in the Asics line-up, but considering that it isn't really radically different than something like the Cumulus...well, it was going to get streamlined out of existence.

The Dynaflyte is substantially similar, IMO. But I also think you should probably be taking a look at:

Brooks Ghost
Mizuno Wave Rider
New Balance 880

All are going to feature similar drops, but different fits and cushioning experiences. But all should have good platform stability and work for you.

What will be interesting to see the outcome of is whether or not Rapp has opened up himself to a case of Due Diligence. The way I see it, he is an "employee" and is obligated to report issues in a timely manner and Dimond is required to act on those issues once reported. If Dimond can show that they were not informed in a timely manner, and if there were proven issues, Rapp might have opened himself up to more than just a fight with Dimond. Him being an engineer should know this. Dimond just has to show they were unaware of the issues. Warranty records will back this up and if they produce all the correspondence with Rapp and there's nothing mentioned until well after the fact, I suspect it'll go badly for him. It'll be a case of proving who did/ did not fulfill their due diligence obligations. However I'm not a lawyer so what do I know? I also just realized this was way too long for this forum.

He would be classified as an independent contractor in the US, rather than an employee.

Unpacking a few different things:

1.) Dimond is suing on the basis of violating his contract with them. Pretty simple contract claim, really. I can't ascertain their calculation of damages to get to six figures, but hey, whatever. Jordan's crossclaim is that they were in breach, which left him free to negotiate elsewhere. Relatively simple employment dispute, really.

2.) The thread - well...now this is where shit's gonna get interesting, because now there's going to be a whole mess of additional claims that are likely to come out of it (both against Jordan and against Dimond). Defamation, products liability, etc. This is gonna be a lot more expensive than $25K, especially if both sides decide to dig in.

3.) In re: product endorsement - yeah, that creates its own treasure trove of evidence.

4.) It would seem that Dimond is trigger happy on litigation, based on their additional suit against Chris Blick (although I have no idea how that survives summary judgment, without diving into it further). I can't see how this ends well for them regardless of outcome.

As someone that did qualify, no roll down, just had a good day for once, what pisses me off the most is the ass fucks that get a lottery or legacy spot and like to broadcast that they're going to Kona like they earned that shit. That's what bothers me the most.

When I raced last year I kept telling my wife before the race that I felt like I didn't deserve to be there. I had seen the guys race back in '13 when Jen raced as a pro and I was humbled to say the least. Maybe an exaggeration, maybe not, but it felt like the average time for a 30 something year old dude was like 9:25.

Agree on the whole "advertising like they earned it." Had a bunch of old customers qualify that way.

And yes, they're completely kosher as a 501(c)(3) to offer a raffle this way in Florida. They just can't require you to donate; they have to offer a way to enter for free to be legal. And the US Code provision is based on whether or not the behavior was illegal at the state level.

Super waspy, but I'd recommend Sporthill. Tons of sizing options, and they're not terribly priced with the cyber Monday discounts. It's what I ran in all winter training for indoor/outdoor track. Fit perfectly with our team of slow white dudes in Connecticut. I'm 6'2" and 155 and a medium tall was perfect. I'd go large tall for your guy.

That said, in order: manpris > tights > pants for winter running.

Handlebar X and Y should give us some good info here. Yes, the reach is on the shorter side, but it seems like what he's recommending would be a longer stem than would be recommended for most tri bikes.

I'll dive into the numbers when off the work network, but I would surmise we're looking in the QR PR3/5 series as well.
