In reading all these pros opening up about their financials, I thought I'd do the same. So here is the rough breakdown about my budget.
Year 1 -
New bike - 15k with wheels and pm of course Travel to places we would never actually vacation(with ungrateful family in tow) - 10k Race fees - 2.5k Other miscellaneous gear - 2k Compression sock budget (have to have every color) - 1k Race day photo packages - 5k Bike fit - 0 (i'm an expert in this field due to my internet research) Coaching - 0 (I think I understand the principles of training and my body the best)
Time lost at work looking at forums to "better myself and gain knowledge" - at least 300 hours Time spent training - 100 hours Number of DNFs - 6 AG podiums (hope to improve here with more equipment next year) - 0 Number of pending divorces - 1
Overall, a pretty great year. I see some areas to improve on. Mainly the fact that the P5x has been released and I truly believe in the new disc brake technology and it's ability to make me faster.
Hopefully this helps some other people see what it takes to achieve their goals in this sport. While the numbers may seem like a lot, it's not and I still pay all the bills on my 5 homes with no issues while supporting my children (only in their triathlon endeavors of course).
Everyone else's secret santa sucked! I got a real Canadian beaver, a self help book, and a book full of dick pics. And some pjs to become one with my inner Canadian.
In reality, she has toyed with the idea of doing one in the past. I'm just shoving her over the ledge.
She is of the one and done crowd. Except this is a sprint, and not an Ironman. My dream of having matching Ironman tattoos will have to wait for my second marriage.
