Trainer Season Is Here - What To Binge Watch?
It's cool, cloudy and sprinkling in Northern California today, so along with the early departure of daylight must come the inevitable trainer out of the closet.
What are your recommendations for series or movies to watch while suffering indoors this season? I've got Netflix & Amazon Video, just dropped HBO Now, but feel free to throw out any ideas for the masses.
Sometimes I tweet...

Broad city
Stranger things
Master of none
People just do nothing
Sherlock
Black mirror
Scandal
Mindhunter
Orange is the New Black (but only seasons 1 through 4, season 5 is boring AF)
I have just started Stranger Things (I can't binge watch that one - family rule - but I want to)
Also like Ozark but not enough to binge watch it
@M_Ware I haaaated Longmire. Or at least the first 10-15 minutes of every episode. The hub used to watch it when he got in to bed - I rarely lasted beyond 15 minutes. For a tiny town, they sure had a lot of suspicious deaths.
The Disappearance
White Famous
Letterkenny (first and maybe 2nd seasons) - learn to speak Webstey!
The Handmaids Tale
Hello Ladies
Of course, if you are part of this century then perhaps you have the fancy cable channels and already watch most of these shows.
Designated Survivor
Wentworth (if you enjoyed Orange is the New Black and are ok with something darker)
The Confession Tapes
Real Detectives
Broadchurch
Archer
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Rick and Morty
Most the Marvel shows are great on Netflix (except for Daredevil - someone just shoot the blind guy already - he has no weapons and very limited “powers”). Enough action and easy enough to follow that zoning out here and there won’t matter.
I also did The Larry Sanders Show on HBO.
Of course Golden Girls pretty much anytime on Lifetime.
The 100
Blue Mountain State
Last Man on Earth... kind of annoying at times (stupid tandy) but still a funny enough to watch and you cruise through the 20 minute episodes
How I Met Your Mother
Gotham
Follow that up with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist (which is the weakest IMO) and then their team-up: The Defenders!
and NARCOS!
Luke Cage = Super hero with supernatural powers
Iron Fist = (haven't gotten to yet, but on my playlist)
Daredevil = Blind guy who hears/smells well and lives in a city where no one knows how to a) aim or b) fire simultaneously. 65% of each episode is people with access to guns and/or real supernatural powers having fist fights. 25% is 45 second slow motion moments where he almost kisses Karen but doesn't. The last 10% is him either saying he "needs to do it alone" or that he can't kill anyone - both of which are the direct cause of the death of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. I watched all the episodes, but after about the first 3 it was rage inducing. Why I kept going, I don't know - I am broken that way. Maybe the rage was good for the trainer.
Narcos was great, but I would have had a hard time doing that one on the trainer during any kind of effort with the all the subtitles. I suppose if you speak Spanish, but I can barely read when not exercising.
I neglected to include these in my prior list:
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The League
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Game of Thrones (hard to concentrate during VO2 max intervals)
Walking Dead
-Sam
Life in Pieces
If you have triathlonlive.tv you can watch world championship triathlon races back to the 1980s, and full ITU seasons from the early 2000s on.
I have to be careful with that one and GOT. Good shows, but... the 5 year old comes down to the basement on Sat mornings, and that much violence and nudity is a little much to have to explain.
+2 on triathlonlive.tv and SuperLeague - great for treadmill workouts as well.
-Sam
The Americans
The Assets is a good 9-episode show that's a little more under the radar.
Shameless
Mindhunter (1st episode is horrible)
Schitts Creek
Flaked
The Crown
Atypical
Santa Clarita Diet
Bloodline
The OA
Clay Richard Gasway
