What is the deal with this race. In the last few days Richard Murray (first 70.3), Kienle, and Sanders have all tweeted their intent to race. Is there a bunch of appearance fees being paid? Prize purse looks like $150,000, so nothing overly exciting. What's the deal? @EmilyCocks @Zach Miller @TRS_tri

I know what the race is, I guess my question is why is it scooping up so many big names?

@GasBomb Challenge must be paying. And the 70.3 race schedule in North America is fairly light this summer. A lot more $$ over in Europe with Challenge and WTC races. I think you will see a lot more pros basing themselves out of Europe this summer. Travel is relatively easy (trains, etc) and a smaller area to cover than North America.

I talked to a couple of Southern Hemisphere pros who usually base themselves out of Boulder for the summer and they are not this year. Staying down near Australia to race the Asian races or heading to Europe.

I heard Challenge Schlemiel ! Schlimazel ! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated ! In Milwaukee WI is a great race, but sadly, the only purse will have belonged to Lavergne and Shirley.
