Robinson v. Lange - Heart of the Rockies 2017
After much ribbing between ourselves,
@James Lange and I have decided to put to rest our petty ribbing by the only way true TRS members should - racing. James and I have put a bet on the Heart of the Rockies Triathlon for 2017. The stakes? The loser has to post a YouTube video here extolling the virtues of the winner.
In an effort to at least give poor Mr. Lange a half a chance to win this contest, I have graciously offered him a handicap based on our prior race results. If he comes in within 10 minutes of my finish time, he will be the "winner" of this bet.
I'm sure Mr. Lange will be by shortly to post his version of this challenge. In the meantime, use this thread to mock us, place side bets, promise to come cheer us on etc. We will probably each be posting here over time with training updates, mockery and other assorted news. Happy racing y'all!
And James, may the best man win!

It's an Olympic with an accurate 1500/40/10 course. Mass start lake swim, average Bike, hilly run.
In 2015 we both did the chinook Olympic (that had a 46km bike) and Brent beat me by 29 minutes. However, in the race I ran 5:20 kms and this last August I ran 5:13/km for 30km in Penticton and also had 20:15 for 4.8km in the aquathon. In other words, I've improved.
More relevant info:
1. I've been doing push-ups.
2. My treadmill is broken.
3. This is my 4th straight year doing this race.
4. Brent is a lawyer.
5. I am a kitten/puppy rescuer.
6. Admittedly my biking a weak point but I have been following a loose fitnessblender.com routine for 2 months.
7. This isn't my A race, it's my AAA race.
You fucking pussy. You are pathetic. _________ (insert name) is going to demolish you if you don't get your shit together. Do you really want to be humiliated like that? No, I didn't think so, now go eat a protein bar or something and stop taking selfies on the bike trainer.
I think this kind of coaching could really take off.
Did you just call me an asshole?
I pick @James Lange , sorry @Brent_R , but I remember some slimeball saying "always take the points".
Either way, fantastic post and good luck, safe training to you both!

2016 2:36:02.5 (27:15/1:16:11/50:39)
2015 2:48:16.0 (28:59/1:23:43/53:13)
2014 2:47:32.5 (28:44/1:23:41/52:38)
Waiting for @Brent_R to let me know his other results aside from a 5:06:01 (33:00/2:39:20/1:48:20) at the 2014 IM Calgary 70.3.
Cozumel 2016 2:23 Olympic. Swim was short (1200m?) The run was effing hot.
Edmonton 2016. Sprint with the swim cancelled due to cold and rain.
Chinook 2016. 2:19:39 but the swim was short. Maybe only 1000 m? Shortened due to excess chop.
Okotoks Sprint 2016 (500 m swim I think)
Edmonton Olympic 2015. No swim due to effing cold and rain. This may be a theme.
Chinook 2015. Olympic with a 47 km bike.
Okotoks 2015. 750 m(ish) swim, but there was like 150 m of beach running in that 750 m.
