Annual "Spandex in the South" race weekend
I noticed this last year on the same weekend, but this weekend has three very distinct formats of racing in the southeast, all within a couple hours' drive of each other.
First (and best/most important), is tomorrow's XTERRA Oak Mountain in Pelham, AL. Serving as the only remaining non-altitude XTERRA major left in the U.S. outside of worlds in Maui, this is honestly the deepest field I've seen here in a long time, and the deepest elite field I've been in for an XTERRA outside of Utah and Maui.
Also tomorrow is MLT Charlotte.
And then Sunday is 70.3 Chattanooga.
So really, it's a good mix. Who knows what we'll see. Will I crash multiple times? (probably) Will MLT finally
get the attention that it deserves? (hopefully) Will a former ITU star win Chattanooga? (I'm too lazy to look up the start list but I'm 99% sure the answer here will still be yes)
Lastly, I leave you with the trail feature most likely send me to urgent care tomorrow afternoon:https://www.facebook.com/XTERRAplanet/videos/10156240519421110/
